Cebu boasts some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, with the finest sand. It also prides itself on having the warmest locals and tastiest cuisines. Additionally, Cebu is steeped in rich historical narratives. Hence, for those with adventurous spirits, Cebu is unquestionably the perfect place to go on an unforgettable journey!

Beaches and Beyond

Cebu boasts some of the most breathtaking beaches in the world, with pristine white sands and crystal-clear waters that will leave you speechless. One must-visit spot is Malapascua Island. Here, you can swim with thresher sharks and explore the magnificent coral reefs teeming with marine life. Truly, it feels like diving into a real-life aquarium!

When you’ve had your fill of underwater adventures, you may head to Bantayan Island. Bantayan island is located in the northern part of Cebu. Just go to the Hagnaya port and take a ferry boat. It will take you to Santa Fe, the main town on Bantayan Island.

The ferry ride from Hagnaya Port to Santa Fe Port on Bantayan Island typically takes around an hour to an hour and a half, depending on sea conditions and the type of ferry you take.

Meanwhile, if you want to get there faster you may choose the Super Shuttle Ferry which will take you to Santa Fe thirty minutes earlier than the regular ferry.

Bantayan Island is known for its powdery white sands and turquoise waters. So, you may spend your days lounging on the beach, snorkeling, or exploring the island’s charming villages by scooter. Meanwhile, don’t forget to catch the stunning sunset views – they’re absolutely breathtaking!

One thing I like the most about the beaches and resorts in Bantayan Island is that they are all clean and well-maintained. But take note, this island is not very crowded and it is a perfect place for you to work and relax at the same time. Baigad Beach Lagoon and Virgin Island is just some of the beautiful beaches that you must explore in Bantayan.

I will be selfish if I don’t tell you about the Kota Beach. This is where you fill find white and powdery sand for free. Kota beach is open to the public. Thus, you won’t pay any penny enter it.

So, put off your slippers and feel the earth beneath the ground. Just grab some food and drinks, and you’re good to roll out your picnic mat on the sand.

Meanwhile, For those seeking a more secluded beach experience, Camotes Islands is the perfect destination. With its hidden coves and pristine shores, it feels like you’ve discovered your own private paradise. Rent a kayak and explore the island’s hidden lagoons, or simply relax and soak up the sun on its untouched beaches.

Likewise, if you are looking for an exclusive beach house for your intimate gathering for friends or family, Agua Villa is the perfect place for you! It is located in Catmon, Cebu. You can rent it in a very affordable price. The owners and staff of this beach house are very friendly and accommodating.

In fact, I had a peaceful and relaxing stay in this beach house. The view was magnificent. It’s undeniable that the beach house’s location is perfect for sunset viewing for someone who loves sunset like me.

Cebu is rich in history and culture, with landmarks that will transport you back in time. Just take a stroll through the streets of Cebu City and visit the historic Magellan’s Cross. Did you know that it is a symbol of the island’s colonial past and the Christianity in the Philippines? Magellan’s Cross in Cebu is believed to be a symbol of the introduction of Christianity to the Philippines, as it marks the spot where Ferdinand Magellan planted a wooden cross upon arriving in Cebu in 1521.

In addition, you may marvel at the intricate architecture of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño. Here, you can witness centuries-old religious traditions come to life. Also, don’t miss the chance to explore the charming town of Carcar, known for its well-preserved colonial architecture and marketplaces. Take a leisurely walk along its cobblestone streets and admire the beautifully restored ancestral homes.

Venture outside the city and discover the historic sites of Cebu’s neighboring towns. Explore the ruins of the Fort San Pedro in the coastal city of Lapu-Lapu, or immerse yourself in the rich heritage of the town of Oslob, home to the majestic Oslob Church and the historic Cuartel Ruins. But no matter where your adventures take you in Cebu, one thing’s for sure: the people will always welcome you with open arms and warm smiles. The Cebuanos are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. They’ll make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.

Evidently, Cebuanos love gathering together and celebrating small wins. They are very welcoming and will always make you feel as if you are one of the locals as well.

I’m sharing it from my own experience. My first time in Cebu did not really feel like first time at all. I did not feel that I am a stranger there. It felt like I have been living there for years already. Nothing but peace, calmness and happiness in my heart when I was there.

So, whether you’re sampling street food in the markets of Cebu City or sharing stories with locals in a seaside village, you’ll find that the true beauty of Cebu lies not only in its food, beaches and very rich culture, but in the warmth and hospitality of its people.

The ferry ride takes about 2 hours, offering scenic views of the sea along the way.

Another nearby gem is Dumaguete in Negros Oriental, known for its stunning coastline and beautiful marine life. To reach Dumaguete from Cebu, you can take a ferry from Cebu City to Dumaguete City. The ferry ride typically takes around 4 hours, giving you ample time to relax and enjoy the journey.

Therefore, if you’re craving a taste of adventure, head to Moalboal in southern Cebu, it is known for its pristine beaches and vibrant underwater world. From Cebu City, you can take a bus to Moalboal, which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on traffic.
